How to Increase Bioelectricity

increase bioelectricity

E=mc squared. So the entire universe is fundamentally made of energy. Electricity is one of the forms of energy that makes up matter at a subatomic level. Energy is changing form all the time around and within us, from heat to light to movement and yes, electrical energy is also present in our bodies. This in-the-body electricity is known as bioelectricity.

We can increase bioelectricity by taking steps to increase health and vitality. Strong muscles and wide nerve channels produce greater amounts of bioelectricity. Making sure that we have adequate vitamins and minerals will keep our bodies energy systems optimal. Bioelectricity can be increased in the brain by stimulating the mind through learning new skills and knowledge and can be manipulated through focus and meditation. In far eastern tradition, the concept of “chi” is a way to conceptualize life force energy. This could be extrapolated as bioelectricity.

Why increase bioelectricity?

Your mind, body and soul run on energy. If you equate bioelectricity with “chi” or life force, then your motivation for increasing it directly will be to gain the benefits of having “more” life force.

What are those benefits? More energy to achieve more and greater things in life is one. To be clear-minded, enthusiastic and happy is another. Those moments when you really feel alive are when your life force is boosted.

Another reason for having the intention to increase bioelectricity is to use that intention as motivation to improve overall health and personal life quality. If you can visualize yourself lit up with sparks of electrical power, which actually happens within every living organism, that might be a stronger motivating factor for you than running around the park a bit quicker than the last time.

The order that you should look at it is:

  1. Become healthier.
  2. Bioelectricity increases.

There is no real way to do this:

  1. Increase bioelectricity.
  2. Become healthier.

What activities will increase my bioelectricity?

Without getting into too much woo, I have had great results from practicing various breathing exercises such as Yogic breathing, chi breathing, and more recently I have been finding massive energy boosts from the Wim Hoff breathing method. I believe he took the technique from Tibetan monks and adapted it for himself and made it presentable to a more western audience. I also slightly adapted the technique to better suit myself, but I find that it brings increased strength, endurance and mental focus when I do it.

If we explore deep breathing, we can see how it produces bioelectricity. When you take oxygen into the lungs, it gets transferred and stored in the blood. All chemical processes involve the movement of electrons from one or more group of atoms to another. This movement of electrons results in electricity. Now, in order to deliver oxygen to and pull out carbon dioxide from the body, a lot of electron transfer takes place. It is literally an internal alchemical process.

Using deep breathing methods, you can literally feel “charged up” with energy from the first time you even try it. One way to learn deep breathing is via chi kung. I have had some great results with this course (click on the link). It even has a money back guarantee.

Another activity that increases bioelectricity is resistance training. Isolating a muscle group and training it causes a flurry of bioelectrical activity particularly in that muscle. Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) is immediately used to fuel the muscles. This is a very energetic chemical reaction that causes massive electron movement across cells, molecules and atoms within the muscle. At the same time, oxygen is being supplied, carbon dioxide is transported away and lactic acid build up also gets flushed out quickly.

Actually, any physically challenging activity will boost your energy output during the time which you are doing it, and for quite a long time after you stop as well. Cardiovascular training such as running, swimming or cycling has this effect tremendously. However, to maintain optimal bioelectric output in your body, it is important to rest and get enough recuperation. Overtraining in any discipline leads to you becoming weaker, more tired and less vital.

Which type of diet increases bioelectricity?

A healthy diet with foods that specifically contain minerals, electrolytes and vitamins in the correct amounts and ratios that allow the conduction of electrical energy throughout the body.

Positively charged minerals would be sodium, copper, magnesium, potassium and calcium while those with a negative charge are chloride and phosphorous. In fact, those seven minerals are required in the diet to maintain health and ultimately life.

To help you get an idea of how to construct a balanced diet containing these minerals, I have compiled a list:

Foods containing natural sodium:

  • Beetroot
  • Seaweed
  • Carrots
  • Turnips
  • Celery

Foods containing natural copper:

  • Cashew nuts
  • Sesame seeds
  • Kale
  • Cocoa
  • Almonds

Foods containing natural magnesium:

  • Avocado
  • Lentils
  • Peas
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Oats

Foods containing natural potassium:

  • Bananas
  • Spinach
  • Broccoli
  • Mushrooms
  • Cucumbers

Foods containing natural calcium:

  • Soya
  • Spinach
  • Salmon
  • Okra
  • White beans

Foods containing natural chloride:

  • Tomatoes
  • Olives
  • Rye
  • Peppers
  • Potatoes

Foods containing natural phosphorous:

  • Sunflower seeds
  • Rice
  • Wheat
  • Quinoa
  • Chickpeas

Including these types of food in your diet and in a balanced way will ensure that you have the elements required for optimal bioelectricity.

How does sleep affect my bioelectricity?

As it is with just about everything, a good balance is required to be optimal. We all know that sleeping too little leads to dramatically reduced energy levels, and sleeping too much can have the same or similar effects over a longer period.

Your bioelectrical system resets and rewires itself during the hours of sleep. This period of refreshment has multiple benefits. Your body repairs and you become physically stronger during sleep. If you do any intensive training, it is not while you are actually training that strength and fitness increases, it’s during sleep.

Your mind organizes itself through dreams and you are mentally sharper, more focused and intelligent as a result. Remember everything that happens in your mind and brain is electrical energy triggered by chemical reactions.

Sleep helps concentration. Concentration is a state of mind that is massively bioelectric. If you concentrate on something then you have increased bioelectricity within the brain. If that increase is your goal, then getting enough sleep is essential.

As mentioned briefly earlier, too much sleep also lowers energy levels and introduces quite serious health risks. So it’s best to find a balance.

Thoughts, emotions and bioelectricity

It has been argued that all of our inner experience; the thoughts, the hopes, the dreams, the pleasures; are all fundamentally a highly complex electrochemical process that starts at the moment of conception and ends (at least within the body) at the moment of death. This is actually permanent bioelectricity continually generated throughout the body’s entire physiology.

In order to increase bioelectricity in this area, one can begin by having more intense emotional experiences, deeper thoughts, and more profound realizations. Any one of these occurrences will raise the base level of electrical energy and can be quite spectacular to behold, both for the experiencer and an observer.

How do you get these amazing inner moments? There are several ways. Firstly, consistent meditation is perhaps the most direct and complete route to inner realizations. Also reading, learning and applying learned knowledge will light up the brain and nervous system. Travelling to new places and exploring our world has almost always resulted in deep transformations for those who do it.

Thoughts and emotions are bioelectricity in action. By realizing that their intensity and quality is directly under your own control, you can increase the energy you produce with them.

Conclusion

Bioelectricity is already a fundamental part of our bodies and some might say that it is synonymous with life itself. The electrical component of our energy system does not produce high voltages in any one particular place. The cellular transfer of ions is very low voltage, but when you add up billions of cells doing the same thing, the body can output kilowatts of energy on demand.

We can use our knowledge of bioelectricity to improve our overall health and well being.
